Industry Specific ComplianceThe UT Administration of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu on May 14, 2026, notified regarding the simplified Recognition Process for Private Schools.

The following has been stated:

• The government has simplified the process for granting recognition to private schools under the newly framed Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu School Education Rules, 2026. Earlier, around 16 documents were required under the separate school education rules applicable to the erstwhile UTs of Goa, Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.

• Following the merger of the two UTs and enactment of the Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu School Education Act, 1984 (Act No. 15 of 1985) on April 20, 2022, the administration has reduced the documentation requirement to only six key documents as part of its Ease of Doing Business initiative.

• Applicants seeking recognition for private schools now need to submit:

o Society/Trust Registration Certificate (not required for individuals),

o Occupancy Certificate,

o Lease Agreement (if premises are rented),

o Structure Stability Certificate,

o Fire Safety Certificate, and

o Hygiene/Sanitary Certificate.

• Societies, trusts, or individuals intending to establish private schools in the UT must apply in the prescribed form with these documents. However, authorities may seek additional documents if required under court directions, Government of India instructions, or orders from competent authorities.
